Back home and back to work this week!! Feels so good.

the eggs bacon and vegetables.jpg

Doing a little detoxing after eating all the sugar and all the carbs for 10 days. This is actually my second breakfast this morning, I had a few more eggs with chorizo that were left over from the weekend a little earlier.

Because I always have to be doing some type of challenge:

dog days of summer

Kevin, my mom, and I are doing the Concept 2 Rowing Dogs Days of Summer Challenge. You can actually still jump in for you’re interested because 10k for the first week is very doable! All you have to do is sign up for their free online logbook and start rowing! I’m almost half done with the 10k for this week, but it gets harder every week!

Row or ski, indoors or outdoors, completing each of the following four distance goals during the time frames indicated and log them in your online logbook:

  • Week 1, Aug. 1–7: 10,000 meters
  • Week 2, Aug. 8–14: 20,000 meters
  • Week 3, Aug. 15–21: 30,000 meters
  • Week 4, Aug. 22–28: 40,000 meters

crazy boyd.jpg

Here’s crazy Boyd staring us down while we watch archived footage from the 2014 CrossFit Games last night. The Games took place while we were at the cabin in Minnesota so we didn’t really get to watch anything, but I was keeping tabs on the standings all weekend. I’m so happy that my two faves, Rich Froning & CLB, both won!!!!!

Kevin and I have also been back to CrossFit. Our first day back was a 15 minute AMRAP of Run 400m and 25 wall balls. Ouch. That’s quite the welcome back wod. I finished exactly 4 rounds but didn’t make it back out the door for another run. I really should have been able to, but I’m probably a little out of shape.

Saturday AM was this fun little wod:

6x
10 box jumps
15 hand release push-ups
20 sandbag shoulders

I finished in a little over 14 minutes. I had issues with the sandbag ripping the skin off my fingers, and I ended up with a crazy blister too. It’s not attractive so I won’t subject you to a photo! Tonight we are doing the benchmark wod Grace!!!  I was so excited when I saw it because I get to go to 7pm with Kevin and my CF BFF. The last time I did it was March 10th in 4:25. I think I can break 4 minutes someday, but today’s probably not that day. I’m hoping to tie my time or maybe a few seconds faster. We were definitely texting about this wod at 6:45AM this morning. Haha.

Another thing I have in the works:

fall color run buena vista

I’ve always wanted to do the Color Run in Buena Vista, and I think I’m going to commit to it this year. REAL colors not those paint throwing 5ks. :) They have a 5k, 10k, and half marathon, and of course, right away I’m tempted to go for the half. 10k would probably be a wiser choice, but I know I can crank out a half, especially if I’m not really concerned about the time. I read the course descriptions and the half course sounds pretty easy. I don’t think I’ll get Kevin to run a half again, but he’s up for doing a 5 or 10k. I have to make some time for a couple of medium distance runs if I want to consider it so we’ll see if that happens.

Any challenges or races planned for this month?

P.S. My mom sent me this link of a workout wedding that took place at a CrossFit box in Rochester, MN, to raise money for cancer research. Pretty cool.
