Linking up with the tiny twig to share my May Goals with Grace. Definitely with grace since it’s 9:07PM on May 4. :)
It’s been almost a year since I declared my goal to get a strict pull-up which I thought was going to take months & months to get (if ever!). But once I got serious about it and practiced every single day, it took me only 36 days. (I had practiced half-heartedly before that for about two months.)
1. Now, it’s time to do more strict pull-ups and chest-to-bar pull-ups.
The c2b pull-ups were inspired the fact that our box will be hosting a fundraiser wod for Love 146. If you’re local-ish, you should check it out and sign up. (more info)
Join us for the 1st annual WOD146. This WOD (Work Out of the Day) will raise funds and awareness to end child trafficking and exploitation. Friends and family are welcome! The WOD will be accessible for everyone, from first-time CrossFit participants to seasoned athletes. There will even be a special WOD for kids.
The statistics and stories around child trafficking and exploitation are heartbreaking. With WOD146 we will work for one day, so someday all kids can be free. WOD146 was specifically designed to represent what kids should be doing; jumping rope, swinging on monkey bars, twirling upside down… being free.
I always want to do my best for any wod, but especially for a fundraiser or memorial wod. So I’m going to work on my c2b, and hopefully hspus too since those are still shaky. :/
2. Row 100,000m in May. I did this for the Concept 2 Holiday Rowing Challenge between Thanksgiving & Christmas, but it will be much easier now that I have a rower at home! Plus, the April Concept 2 challenge is to row a marathon or half marathon.
My mom is doing the half so I guess I’m a pansy if I don’t do it too…. exactly 21,097 meters in one sitting before May 15. My plan is to do it slow so I can easily beat my time on my second try someday. Seriously. :) The “good news” is that I will get 21,097 of the 100,000 done in one sitting. I’m not really expecting to beat my mom…
3. Memorize Psalm 139 w/Kevin.
Kevin and I accepted this challenge from our church to memorize Psalm 139 in 9 weeks. The artwork and music shared by The Verses Project are an amazing encouragement & resource:
The Verses Project just started a 9 week campaign to help people memorize Psalm 139 in its entirety. Every week we’ll be posting a song and artwork that help you, friends, family, and kids, memorize and meditate on the verses.
The first week’s post for verses 1-3 features a free song by Robbie Seay and artwork by Zach McNair. Click here to listen, see, and download the song or artwork. You can also sign up on the website for email notifications to know when the next post is up.
4. Sew, Read, Write, and/or Play Piano. Something small every day. In other words, keep doing things that aren’t reading blogs and working out…

5. Make some decent Spotify playlists. Mine are a total disaster. Don’t look yet. I’m forever starting new ones with nondescript titles, and then end up with only a few tracks in each of 50 playlists. But I love Spotify, and it’s totally worth paying for, in my opinion!!
Kevin James also has some fun goals that we talked about over coffee including riding his bike to work (15 miles one way) 6x, rowing in the morning, and memorizing the Psalm with me. We are also continuing our 50 Fridays Marriage Challenge which is fun & easy. And guess what? I’m finally caught up on my Goodreads challenge. I didn’t cheat either! The last book I finished was 400 pages. We stayed up until 1:30AM last night reading — that’s basically like a dream come true for me, and it only happens when Kevin is reading some epic historical nonfiction book.
And yes, everything has to be a challenge. Yes, I’m exhausting to live with, but I make great cookies. :)
Any late May goals? Has anyone rowed a half? Any advice on that?
